Pharmacists are uniquely poised to engage in efforts to reduce opioid misuse and related overdoses. They are are trusted by people who may be at risk of an opioid overdose, are knowledgeable, and accessible to members of the community. Consultation time with clients is also a perfect opportunity for pharmacists to educate their clients on ways to be safe, including keeping naloxone on hand.
